Kinetic Photovoltage from Moving Boundaries of Electrical Double Layer

چکیده

External photo-stimuli on heterojunctions commonly induce an electric potential gradient across the interface therein, such as photovoltaic effect, giving rise to various present-day technical devices. In contrast, in-plane along has been rarely observed. Here we show that moving a light beam at semiconductor-water interface, i.e. creating boundary of electrical double layers between illuminated and dark regions, semiconductor. It is attributed following movement charge packet in vicinity silicon surface, whose formation driven by built-in field associated with capacitance [1]. By applying bias transistor-inspired gate modulation kinetic photovoltage further developed. The signals can be facilely switched on/off due electricalfield-modulated surface band bending. contrast function solid-state transistors relying external sources, passive achieved simply introducing counter electrode materials desired electrochemical potential. This architecture opens up new way for silicon-based photoelectronics self-powered optoelectronic logic

Inference of Polymer Adsorption from Electrical Double Layer Measurements

A discussion is given on the use of electrical double layer measurements as a tool for the study of polymer conformations in the adsorbed state. The emphasis is on polymers at solid particles. Combination of data from electrophoresis and direct surface charge measurements leads to information on the polymer segment distribution between trains and loops. The silver iodide-polyvinylalcohol system...

Two tributaries of the electrical double layer.

This special issue of Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter focuses on physical aspects of capacitive energy storage and harvesting devices based on electrical double layers. An electrical double layer (EDL) is an interfacial structure in which charges are separated between two neighboring phases or layers. Originally introduced by Helmholtz in 1850, the concept of EDLs has found numerous applic...

Simulating the Electrical Double Layer Capacitance

In this study, a computational model was developed using commercial finite element analysis package COMSOL Multiphysics (Burlington, MA) to simulate the electrical double layer (EDL) structure and quantify the EDL capacitance for the first time. In the modeling the electrochemical process at an EDL structure was considered by solving the Poisson, Nernst-Plank and Butler-Volmer equations without...

The Electrical Double Layer and Its Structure

At any electrode immersed in an electrolyte solution, a specific interfacial region is formed. This region is called the double layer. The electrical properties of such a layer are important, since they significantly affect the electrochemical measurements. In an electrical circuit used to measure the current that flows at a particular working electrode, the double layer can be viewed as a capa...
